Consumer Protection

The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) is established in accordance with Section 4 of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Act No. 15 of 2009 hereinafter referred to as "the Act".

Section 6 of the Act empowers Z ICTA to regulate the provision of electronic communication services and products and monitor the performance of the sector, including the levels of investment and the availability, quality, cost and standards of the electronic communication ser vices under the Act. The Authority's mandate has further been enhanced by the amended Electronic Communications and Transactions Act No. 21 of 2009.

Section 68 of the Act, empowers the Authority to establish guidelines for the making, receipt and handling of complaints of consumers regarding the provision of ICT Services.
